EASTERTIDE SPIRITUAL READING COURSE
Let us Dream Pope Francis
The Spiritual Reading Group will be reading and discussing Pope Francis’s book on his reflections of going forward as a Church from these times of pandemic. How has it changed our lives? And what understanding of our future vocations has it prompted?
We plan to read this short book over two months with meetings every two weeks. The first Zoom meeting will be on Friday 16th April at 4pm, also on Monday 19th April at 7pm. Please email the parish for a Zoom invitation.
Download the resource to help reflective reading on "Let us Dream" by Pope Francis - his post pandemic vision.
If you are unable to order a copy online, please contact Fr Rob and he will order a copy for you.
CATHOLIC ARCHDIOCESE OF BIRMINGHAM
Archbishop Bernard Longley
The Catholic Archdiocese of Birmingham extends from Stoke in the North to the River Thames in the South.
It includes seven cities and five counties; an area with over five million people.
It serves a Catholic population of approximately 450,000 through a network of 217 parishes and some 240 schools.
There are some 250 Diocesan priests (50 are in retirement) assisted by some 80 Permanent Deacons.
Under Church Law the Parishes are grouped into 18 Deaneries which themselves are grouped into three Areas - each being overseen by an Auxiliary Bishop responsible for the Area.
THE SVP SUPPORTING THE BETHANY FOODBANK
The SVP is a Catholic charitable society whose aim is 'faith in action'. Our parish SVP group do daily deliveries of food & supplies to Food Banks, homeless shelters, as well as to drop in centres for asylum seekers & refugees. Due to the current situation, the main Food Bank that they work with are desperately short of provisions and are struggling to meet demand for the most deprived areas of Birmingham. They need urgent donations of food, cleaning products, toiletries and baby products on a large scale. Donations can be dropped off at local addresses for the SVP team to collect every Thursday.
